COVID-19 Update

Coronavirus Update 3/1/20
Rice is going on with business as usual. We are in communication with the Rice Crisis Management Advisory Committee, and they have confirmed the message remains the same. There are currently zero confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the city of Houston or Harris County.

Individuals should practice healthy hygiene habits to help prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses like COVID-19, such as washing hands frequently, covering coughs and sneezes, avoiding touching eyes, nose and mouth, and staying home if sick.

Coronavirus Update 2/28/20
We know there are concerns about the Coronavirus. Here is an update from the Conference Organizers.

The Rice OG-HPC Conference, March 2-4, is still on as scheduled.

Rice’s Crisis Management Advisory Committee has been closely monitoring the latest information on the novel coronavirus, and we are following their recommendations.

There are no suspected cases on the Rice campus or in the greater Houston area.

The CDC travel warnings at levels 2 and 3 now include China, Iran, Italy, Japan and South Korea; you can monitor these warnings at this website https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/notices. The university has extending its travel ban on official business to those countries.

We ask that anyone who has visited or passed through countries on the CDC levels 2 and 3 since February 16, 2020, not attend the conference out of courtesy to all attendees.
